Mahanta

Mahanta (mah-HAHN-tah) The Mahanta, the Living ECK Master is the spiritual leader of Eckankar.

He makes the actual linkup between Soul and the returning wave of the Sound Current via the ECK initiation. He can also release Soul from the Wheel of the Eighty-Four.

The Mahanta is an expression of the Spirit of God that is always with you. Sometimes he is seen as a Blue Light or Blue Star.

The Mahanta can change one's fate. He is the Soul of all beings and the sole agent of God. In all things is his face, and in all life is he the divine seed.

He is the good that dwells in the heart of every mortal creature and loves Soul more than Soul loves Its defilements.

Also called the Living Word, the Wayshower, the Vi-Guru, and the Light Giver, this special incarnation of the Sugmad makes an appearance once every five to a thousand or more years, depending on the part he is to play in a major upliftment of consciousness on every plane.

The tile of Mahanta is transferred from one Living ECK Master to another, in an unbroken line, via the passing of the Rod of ECK Power.

When the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master is a Fourteenth Initiate, the full force of the Rod of ECK Power and the Mantle of the Mahanta are embodied directly in him. If the successor (a Twelfth or Thirteenth Initiate) is only appointed to carry the Rod of ECK Power instead of inheriting the crown, he still takes on the title of Mahanta.

The words of the Mahanta alone can change the world, completely and irrevocably.
